La Maison Longue

Had a great week here. Came for a break after the death of my father, had a few trips out, Boulogne one day and Berck out for lunch to remember my father as he loved a trip out to the seaside.
Very cosy gite. Thanks to Keith for all your help. Hope to visit again soon.

Paul, Alison & Patricia, Lancashire, UK,

La Maison Longue

Thank you for a lovely week, the gite has everything you could possibly need and the wood burner a lovely extra on a cold day.
On Keith's advice we visited Rambures Château and Rose Garden, The Wellington Tunnels in Arras and the Somme 1916 museum in Albert – all really interesting and well worth the visit.
Le Treport remains one of my favourite places for lunch and the Sunday market in St Valery.
Thanks again and hopefully we will see you in the spring.

Jenny & Ken, Buckingham, UK,

Le Tournesol

Thank you for being so accommodating. We’ve had a lovely time even though the weather hasn’t been great, hopefully our luck might be different if we come back.
The gite is beautiful and has been perfect for our short stay.
Much love

Karen, Craig & Elise,

La Maison Longue

Had another great stay here, our 4th visit which speaks for itself. So many places to visit, if you go to see the Somme battlefields, can recommend the Old Blighty Tea Room in La Boisselle for refreshments. We also like La Belle Epoque in Hesdin and L'Ambiance in Le Ponchel for eating out.
Thanks again to your genial host Keith for all his advice and knowledge.

Pauline & Phil, West Yorkshire, UK,

Le Tournesol

Thank you so much Keith an Keran for what has been a truly fantastic time. Our stay has opened our eyes to the many and varied opportunities Nord Pas de Calais has to offer. Keith – your knowledge an enthusiasm for the WWI venues is infectious and we have been really moved on our visits to th ‘best 5’ - Albert museum, Thiepval, Ulster Tower, Lochnager crater and Vimy Ridge. The coastal resorts all have their own unique features and attractions. Thank you also for sharing some very convivial “chatting” sessions, especially for the G&Ts and inviting us to the Friday evening drinks in Auxi-le-Château.
Our first visit to Le Petit Hameau has been FORMIDABLE and we would like to think we will return in the near future.

Diane & Paul,

La Maison Longue

Thank you for another lovely stay; super cosy with the log burner going!
Sorry not to have seen Keran but fab catching up with the lovely Keith. All being well, we’ll be back.
Lots of love

Stella & Tom, Bury, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Many thanks for yet another brilliant stay in Le Petit Hameau. This has been our third stay and we have visited many old haunts. We still find many places that interest us and we are sure that we will return in the future.
Many thanks to Keith and Keran for everything.

Chris & Judith, Leicester, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Thank you so much for the great week in France! The welcome pack and the gluten-free goodies were so appreciated.
Please speak to Keith if you want any ideas/recommendations for places to visit, routes to take or restaurants. We ate at a wonderful place in Hesdin called L’Écurie – highly recommended.
Thanks again for making our week away so wonderful. Great to relax and go in the pool, have a BBQ and play darts after a lovely day out sightseeing.
Many thanks,

Tom & Ros, London, UK,

La Maison Longue

Thank you for making us feel welcome here, it was good to live in all 3 gites as a family. We enjoyed Arras, Amiens, Hesdin and a lovely meal on the Thursday in L’Écurie in Hesdin, very good for anyone with gluten free issues and they were brilliant with adapting their menu for our daughter-in-law Ros – she ended up with more bread than us!
Also enjoyed Fort Mahon Plage again, a recommendation, not that commercial and not over-crowded beach – which was beautiful.
We enjoyed the company of the chickens during BBQs, very entertaining.
Thanks again

Janice, Neil, Tom, Ros & Hannah,

La Maison Longue

We have had an amazing week at Le Petit Hameau. We had lots of fun cycling on the bikes and playing in the barn. The chicken eggs were delicious too. Thank you Keith for letting us choose an egg each, we enjoyed them.
The pool was very fun to play in and the garden was nice too.
I loved the bedroom as it was very cosy and nice.
Thank you for letting us stay here. - Molly, age 12-13

Thank you for making this a fantastic holiday destination. I would love to stay here again and again. This is an amazing place. It is an amazing place to go. I love the chickens (I find the grumpy duck with the red face very amusing).
I really liked the bed covers and loved the swimming pool. I can’t not thank Keith as he was helpful, kind and works very hard.
Thanks again. - Eliza, age 8

What a fantastic week we have had. We love the gite so much. The area is beautiful and peaceful and there is so much to see and do. Particular favourites have been:
*The bikes! - beautiful peaceful country lanes and a shady railway cycle path. We particularly enjoyed the cycle ride to Auxi-le-Château.
*The chickens and the pool
*The war museum at Albert followed by Lochnagar crater, Thiepval memorial, Beaumont-Hamel memorial.
*The walks – particularly the enchanted forest walk (ask Keith!)
*Montreuil-sur-Mer – (small walled city)
*Long (pretty village with river walks, an amazing Château, bike and kayak hire and a great tourist information)
*The games – especially tumbling monkeys!
We received a lovely warm welcome and were really made to feel at home here. We feel like we have stepped back in time – it has been a wonderful, relaxing, old-fashioned family holiday.
Thank you Keith and Keran – we hope to return!

We’ve had a lovely time! Thank you for being so welcoming, for the welcome gift basket & for giving us information an advice on things to do.
We particularly enjoyed the ‘village party’ it was very authentic and we had fun… despite the loud accordion!!! We also loved ‘Nausicaa’ - the biggest aquarium in Europe and learning about war history. The Nazi bunker museum and the blockhaus were moving and interesting. Thank you for the info about V1 & V2 launch sites!
We loved how peaceful it is, being able to have a campfire under the stars.
We hope to see you again soon.

Sarah & Henry,

This is the first time of staying in this lovely place but hopefully not the last.
Loved the scenery and the chickens!
Keith is a good host with all the local information.
Had really enjoyable time with my family.
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Pat, Bristol, UK,

La Maison Longue

We loved staying here for the 2nd time and we loved the chickens (especially Wiggy!). The pool was mostly hot all the time and I loved the barn so much. - Lara

We recommend Hesdin on a Thursday and Le Touquet Market on a Sat – Mum

We loved using the bikes! (especially me and my stepdad Paul) We went on bike rides almost every evening because the weather is coolest then. We see cows, rabbits and sometimes even deer! A really nice place to go for a drink is ‘Chez Jackys’ which is only a 15 minute cycle away.
The barn is so much fun and it has really good swings. The chickens are so cute and friendly and the two cats. WE DON’T WANT TO LEAVE! - Anna

We have had a wonderfully relaxing holiday week here.
Keith was a very active and willing host!
Thank you for your hospitality.
The geese and chickens were interesting and funny to watch.

Absolutely wonderful gite – from the welcome pack to the towels and all the extras.

The creperie at the Moulin de Maintenay is a must – just 5 minutes from the Jardin de Valloires.

It was quiet an pleasant here and we will tell it in Flanders.
Maybe til next time.

Anne & Michel, Ranst, Belgium,

Thank you so much for another fabulous stay, your generous welcome pack & the delicious eggs from the ‘girls’ outside! Been great to be back here with the family & have no doubt we will all be back again soon. Best wishes to you both

P.S. Wish I could draw like a previous guest!

Hugh & Caro,

La Maison Longue

Dear Keith and Keran
Thank you for having us which led to such a great holiday like the first time we came. Although it rained a few times, it really brought the WWII experience to life. If I was to come and I hadn’t done this I would consider it, some sites you could see would be some of the world war places like the Newfoundland memorial or the Somme Museum. Some beaches that you could go to are Fort Mahon or Sainte Cécile, it is great there. If you want to go to a French market, Hesdin market is on Thursday.
Once again thanks.
P.S. Thanks Keith for showing us the police bats.

Finn (12),

La Maison Longue

Ditto all the above! Thank you. Our second visit and if we hadn’t felt at home first time, we certainly do now. As we pack and write this, we’re also running through all the things we haven’t got around to doing and seeing, so I guess the only answer is… see you again soon!

Chris & Abbi,

Le Tournesol

Dear Keith and Keran,
Thank you so very much for our wonderful stay! We loved the gite and easily made ourselves at home. The welcome basket was thoroughly enjoyed!! Sorry we did not have the opportunity to meet you , Keran, but rest assured, Keith was a most generous host. Thank you so much, Keith!
We loved the area and the ease with which we could visit Belgium. We would love to return an will happily recommend your lovely gites to friends travelling this way. Wishing you all the best!

Ann & Tom, USA ♥,

Le Tournesol

We enjoyed our week here thank you – and for the goodies in the ‘welcome pack’.
Keith was very helpful an informative regarding where to visit and walks in the area. Particularly enjoyed a meal at ‘La Belle Epoque’ in Hesdin, the market and walking around the town. Also sitting in th sun watching the chickens early evening.
Thank you

Sandra & Graham, Shropshire, UK,

La Maison Longue

Hi Keith and Keran,
We had a wonderful time!
Very relaxing and a very nice walk in the enchanted forest (you don’t have to go far to enjoy, it is all in the area)
We felt very at home. The monuments we visited were very moving.
Have a nice spring and great summer. See you next time!

Helen, Rob, Tom an Giles, Eindhoven, The Netherlands,

La Maison Longue

A great week. A well-equipped gite with a very helpful owner on hand. Connah loved the chickens and now wants some at home.
Many beautiful places to visit… would love to come back in the summer.
Thank you Keith

Tim, Lorraine, Marie and Connah,

La Maison Longue

What a fantastic gite, we have had a great week, thank you so much for being such excellent hosts and for the great welcome pack – all much appreciated.
We came, amongst other things, to lay a wreath on Will’s grandfather’s grave at Bagueux, he died of wounds on 24th August 1918 and we, along with Will’s brother and his wife, stood at his grave side at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – very poignant.
Other than that we have visited several of the big monuments to WWI – all well worth a visit. We will certainly be back to this lovely gite!
Thanks again

Will & Penny, Cornwall, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

2nd visit to Keith and Keran's. Just what we needed to relax in the beautiful countryside. On Remembrance Sunday we went to the village service with Keith and Keran – very moving. We will be back in the spring. Thank you so much.

Graham & Max, Surrey, UK,

La Maison Longue

Unfortunately we could only manage a 3 day stay this time but have enjoyed staying and the log burner!
The museum at Albert and the Newfoundland cemetery are worth a visit, as is Hesdin and Montreuil-sur-Mer.
Henry enjoyed a couple of hours swimming at th pool at Hesdin if you’re stuck on a rainy day.
Thank you for the welcome basket. I’m taking the butter home as it's so lovely.

Michelle, Martin & Henry,

La Maison Longue

Wonderful week’s stay in an excellent cottage. Great weather, excellent and warm welcome. Lovely area with lots to see. Looking forward to returning to see all we have missed. Returning home relaxed and refreshed.

Beverly & Jonathan, Essex, UK,

La Maison Longue

5th visit and first time we have met Keith, what a wealth of information on aspects of WWI & WWII.
The weather has been wonderful and unusual for October. Looking forward to 6th visit next year.
Thank you for everything

Ashley & Sheena, Norfolk, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

This is our 2nd stay at Le Petit Hameau and we are sure it will not be our last! It has been a brilliant week with only one part day of drizzle. We have visited Doullens, Albert, St Valery & Le Crotoy. Our visit to the bomb crater, Lochnager, was very interesting and thought-provoking. All the mentioned places are well worth a visit. We have really enjoyed the peaceful countryside and sitting in the garden with the hens and Cleo the cat, and drinking good wine has been great. Many thanks to Keith and Keran for their hospitality. We have wanted for nothing. We will be back! Many thanks.

Chris & Judith, Leicester, UK,

La Maison Longue

Had another great stay at Le Petit Hameau, good weather and great hosts. This gite suited us in every respect and we will definitely return.
If you need any help or advice just ask Keith, his local knowledge, especially about the war sites, is extensive and willingly given.

Phil & Pauline, West Yorkshire, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

What more can we say except a HUGE thank you once again.

Jean & Bob, Merseyside, UK,

La Maison Longue

I feel that I can only echo the sentiments already expressed by every previous guest!
We have enjoyed a week of good weather in a very comfortable and well-equipped gite. Keith was gracious enough to allow us to park our motorcycle in the barn as a bonus.
He also introduced us to a new hobby of locating and exploring the large number of V1 flying bomb launch sites locally. The nearest is only 5 minutes away! Fascinating. We have made a point of leaving some unvisited, to provide an excuse to return!
Thanks for a most enjoyable week.

Chris & Linda, Surrey, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Wonderful stay at this delightful gite. Welcome pack was a surprise and much appreciated. Such an idyllic location. Enjoyed driving through wonderful countryside. Visited Somme museum at Albert & Wellington Tunnels at Arras – amazing.

Anne & Michael, Victoria, Australia,

La Petite Pâquerette

Back again!! Enjoyed ourselves so much in May, we just had to come back! Action-packed week – visits to Tank Museum, Cambrai, Arras, Amiens & Abbeville.
Le Petit Train ride is a must and so is Le Parc de Marquenterre – we saw over 30 species of bird – highlights being the crane, stork, egrets and herons of every shape and size – plus a marsh harrier swooping on its lunch!! Lovely time once again – off to Flanders now! I’m sure we’ll be back!

Jill & Jon, Shropshire, UK,

A great holiday and Keith was a fantastic host. A stunning area and our son loved the chickens and the splash pool. We loved the sea life centre and the Wellington tunnels in arras. The cottage is a jewel and well equipped. We will be back. Many thanks for your hospitality. Paul, Louise and Callum

Louise Runnacles,

La Petite Pâquerette

Have just spent 5 lovely days in Boffles in Keith and Keran’s beautiful gite! Thank you for making us so welcome, and thank you Keith for inviting us, and allowing us to be part of the very moving memorial service on Sunday – we felt very privileged and it’s certainly something to tell the folks back home. Although it’s been a whistle-stop tour to visit the war graves, we still managed a very relaxing afternoon on the beach at Fort Mahon (very lovely)!
Very emotional visits to so many cemeteries and memorials – Lochnagar crater took our breath away and Beaumont-Hamel was so fascinating – the guides were excellent. We could write pages and pages but time is ticking on – today we go back home but not before I visit the Loos memorial where my Great-Uncle Albert Danes is commemorated (6th Battalion – East Kent Regiment “The Buffs”) - feeling very emotional as no-one back home has ever visited it.
Bye bye La Petite Pâquerette and the hens and ducks, we will miss you but we’ll be back. ☺

Jill & Jon, Shropshire, UK,

Just arrived home after a splendid week staying at Le petit hameau. Loved every minute of it and can't wait to go back next year.

Carol Tandridge ,

La Petite Pâquerette

Keith and Keran thank you for the use of your lovely cottage, the log burner was a delight in the evening and kept the bedroom warm.
Thank you for the welcome box of goodies and flowers, a lovely touch.
We visited Le Touquet and walked the Dunes and around the lovely town. Also visited Marquenterre, always a favourite with us for walks and bird watching.
We also visited Auxi-le-Château and even some V1 sites – would have liked to stay longer!
Delicious fresh eggs for breakfast thanks to the ladies!
Hope to visit again – this was our second visit.

Alan & Ros, Buckinghamshire, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Keith, Keran, thanks, once again, for the perfect place to stay, 10th time you tell us, and we still find so much to do in this lovely/sad area of France. The refurb is fabulous and considering the minus temperatures and snow, the wood-burning fire coped and kept us cosy and warm. We love it here and, once again, will be back!

Jean & Bob, Merseyside, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Thank you for a lovely stay. We were looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to spend Christmas and our gite was perfect. It has been quiet and cosy – especially with our fire. There was plenty of wood to keep us going and we even saw an owl in the barn when we collected it!
Keith and Keran left a lovely welcome pack an xmas decorations even though they were back in the UK*. They were still easily contactable and very responsive if we needed them.
We enjoyed visiting nearby towns and villages and travelled a bit further to Vimy.

*They even left us some extra information they printed specially as we were staying out of season.

Merci beaucoup, Keith & Keran!

Poppie & Tim, Bristol, UK,

La Petite Pâquerette

Thank you Keith & Keran for another wonderful stay, for including us in November 11th village(s) Remembrance ceremony(ies), for your hospitality and all the local information. We’ve had some wonderful walks, visited new places and revisited some old favourites. While we have been so lucky with the weather, it has been wonderful to come back, light the fire and hibernate in the evenings. La Pâquerette is just perfect for a late autumn/winter break. We love the other gites too (now we’ve tried them all ~ each to its season!).
Bless you for the welcome pack, such a great treat on arrival and as per previous entry – what a lovely, comfortable bed.
We’ll be back (soon we hope!)
Thank you again

Hugh & Caro,

La Petite Pâquerette

What a brilliant week we’ve had! The weather was mixed but that hasn’t detracted from our stay in this lovely, cosy little gîte. Keith has made sure that we’ve been comfortable and nothing has been too much trouble. His knowledge of the local area has meant that we have had more than enough to do.
We can recommend ‘Pizza Night’ (On Wednesdays) at La Crémaillère – delicious pizzas at reasonable prices (lots of locals eat there too).
The “ladies” in the run at the back of the gîte have kept us amused all week and we can recommend their eggs for breakfast – delicious!
The gîte is well-equipped and we have wanted for nothing! Thank you for the welcome pack – very thoughtful. We aim to return next year!
Many thanks
P.S. What a lovely comfortable bed!

Chris & Judith, Leicester, UK,

Another brilliant holiday at this great location. Keith and Keran go out their way to ensure we have a good time. The welcome pack is brilliant especially after a days travelling. Just the thing, so on the first evening we can enjoy relaxing on the patio, nibbling at the baguette, with lovely French butter, sipping the red wine, or sampling the beer., watching the sun set enjoying the peace and quiet.
Gradually the rush of life slows to a far more relaxed pace as we adapt to French village style living. Time to stand and stare, enjoying the fresh air. Empty roads, sleepy villages, yet plenty to see and do. A very memorable time. Might even be tempted back for a third stay....

John and Irene,

Le Tournesol

Thanks to Keith and Keran for a wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The fresh flowers, eggs, bread, cheese, butter, beer and wine were an added bonus and very thoughtful. We chose here because we were here to visit a war grave of a relative who fell in Belgium during the First World War, and also to visit the Somme, being in the middle of both made Le Petit Hameau the ideal stay. Keith's knowledge of not only the Somme battlefields but the local history was helpful and fascinating. We would love to return to explore more of the local area. Being surrounded by the wildlife, ducks and chickens was very relaxing. Being cat owners and lovers, having Kitty visit us every day was so lovely. She is very friendly and we will miss her furry presence.
Once again, thank you so much for a wonderful and homely stay.

Elwyn & Rachel - Dorset,

La Maison Longue

Me and my family absolutely loved, it also the pool is great. The ducks are friendly and there's a lot of fun things to do!
P.S. I'd like to say a big thanks to Keith and Keran because I never got a chance - Finn (10 years)
First I'd like to mention IT'S A GREAT PLACE to stay. It deserves 5 stars. Thanks Keith and Keran for getting the pool ready and letting us look after the ducks and chickens. The barn is really useful. I want to come again! - Jake (10 years)
Ditto all the above from Jake and Finn - we've had a fantastic stay; relaxing and tremendous fun. Thank you for the warm welcome, the useful pointers - especially the V1 site! Looking forward to making another visit!!

Abbi, Chris, Jake & Finn,

Le Tournesol

Thank you Keith and Keran for another wonderful stay. The Tournesol made a perfect annexe to La Maison Longue for a family holiday, it gave us a great opportunity to introduce our family to some of the wonderful places around which we discovered previously. You always go the extra mile. Thanks for your advice - the directions to the V1 and launch site were very interesting. Bless you for finishing the pool for the boys, they so appreciated it and loved being in charge of the ducks and chickens. Have no doubt we'll be back.

Hugh & Caro,

La Petite Paquerette

Nous avons passe un agréable séjour. Le gite est comfortable et Keith est au petit soin. Merci beaucoup pour votre accueil.

Evelyne et Michel - France, Bas-Rhin,

Astonishingly fine weather - 29 degrees on 26th. Lovely country and plenty of interesting places to visit. The nearby orchid site particularly rewarding. The Long House very comfortable and spacious and our hosts could not be more helpful and welcoming. A most enjoyable short break in this delightful part of France.

Tim & Vicky, Wiltshire,

Le Tournesol

Many thanks for a wonderful, peaceful week. The welcome pack was most appreciated. The gite is situated centrally and allows for visits to the WW1 and WW2 sites as well as the coasts of the channel (Manche). The weather, after an early downpour and thunderstorm, has been warm and sunny. We are now chilled and war satiated. Will recommend to family and friends. FYI bed very comfortable and shower great.

Tina & Doug - S Wales,

La Maison Longue

Thanks for a great stay. The welcome pack was the best we've ever had anywhere. Fascinating battlefield areas, particularly the Newfoundland memorial site at Beaumont Hamel. We also loved St Valery sur Somme - good food and shops and a lovely walk by the estuary. Amazing quiet roads. Again, many thanks.

Stuart, Claire and Edward,

La Maison Longue

We've had a great short break. The welcome pack is a lovely touch. I'll really miss the fire and just watching the chickens roaming around!!!!
Thanks for a great stay, we hope to be back.

Anita and Jason,

Le Tournesol

Thank you so much - we have had a very restful and enjoyable few days here. The gite is comfortable and perfect for our stay.
We had fun exploring the area - La Couple, Albert (the WW1 museum), Thiepval and St Valery Sur Somme.
ps. Going to drop into Les Halles de Quercamps (1 hour north) on our way to Calais - our favourite wine shop! Well worth a visit - closed Sunday & Monday.

Sue & Charles - Oxfordshire,

La Petite Paquerette

Had a wonderful, comfortable stay here. Warm welcome and great information on the area from Keith, especially relating to the war. We will definitely be back.

Maxine and Graham - Surrey,

La Maison Longue

We are at the end of our short Easter break and what a fab few days we've had. The weather has been kind to us, allowing us a few beach days! St Crotoy and St Valerie were lovely to visit - especially on a little steam train.
We also visited Touquet on the coast and found a fab little (not hidden) town - Paris-by-sea they call it.
Lille was a great place to get a 'city' feel and architecture.
What I'm sad not to have done was all the war memorial routes and remembrance spaces; a 2 and a 5 year old are to blame!!
The Maison Longue has been a fabulous space to hang out in. Think the TV was turned on twice as the kids have discovered some great board games. Visits to the friendly chickens were also a great distraction.
Thank you so much for the warmest possible welcome. I'm planning our return stay...soon. Maybe no kids next time :o)
ps. Every message left mentions the welcome pack...so it would be rude not to! It was fabulous...I'm taking the butter home...I don't care if it melts. Too good!!

Caroline - Kent, UK,

La Petite Paquerette

Thanks for a lovely week of peace and quiet. A great location for visiting various sites around the area where there is a lot of local/recent history. Had a great time, also had too much food and wine - what a problem to have!! Thanks and see you again soon.

Simon,

La Maison Longue

Just to say that we have had a very enjoyable relaxing week here at La Maison Longue. The accommodation is very comfortable, we had plenty of wood for the fire and the welcome pack was very welcoming. The eggs are clearly from happy hens.
we managed to do a variety of things every day in a leisurely fashion. Thank you
ps many thanks for the pure indulgence of watching some french TV - a cultural delight

Martin & Jo,

La Maison Longue

Lovely cottage. Well equipped. Welcome pack great. Visited The Somme. Great knowledge and help from Keith. Enjoyed our time here.

Diane & Les,

Le Tournesol

We've had a relaxing break - the weather being particularly good to us. Brilliant sunshine all week.
We've managed to cram a lot into one week with visits to Agincourt, Beaumont Hamel, Thiepval, Warlin Court, St valery-sur-Somme, Arras Wellington tunnels and La Coupole and the WW1 museum at Albert! Would highly recommend La Coupole and the Wellington tunnels - both really interesting and well documented.
Will definitely be back to Pas de Calais and to Le Petit Hameau.
Thanks Keith for your insider knowledge.

Jim and Maureen (Kent, England),

La Petite Paquerette

We have just enjoyed a really lovely short break here and just wish we could stay longer! The gite is delightful and really welcoming after taking a long walk in the surrounding countryside. It is our first stay in this area and we shall certainly return as there are so many more things we would like see and do. Everything was just great.....thanks!

Colin and Lesley (Whitstable, Kent),

La Petite Paquerette

Wanted a short break in the countryside and this fitted the bill perfectly. The Petite Paquarette was immaculate, had everything we needed and was picturesque with its beams and the wonderful log burner. The welcome pack, the bikes and games available in the barn and the warm welcome from Keith and Keran were a bonus and they deserve to make a big success of their gites business. Recommended!

John and Jane Naylor,

Le Tournesol

A lovely short break. Lovely weather and scenery. Great to have a welcome pack and comfy bed. This trip has only made us more determined to move to France ourselves within the next couple of years!

Peter & Pauline (Kent),

La Maison Longue

The generous welcome pack set the tone for our best gite yet! We have so enjoyed the wonderful walks (especially the Ravine), the runs and cycle ride around the local area. Delightful trips to Amiens (and boat trip round the hortillonnages), the coast with unexpected amazing weather, blue skies and sun! Visited Le Meillard where there are five 'petit chateau' in one street and the delightful village of Bernatre. Thank you so much Keith and Keran for a fabulous week.

Hugh and Caro - UK,

La Petite Paquerette:

What a godsend Eurocamp closed on the 19th September otherwise we wouldn't have found this gem of a place. As we walked into La Petite Paquerette we went "wow". It is a beautiful gite.
Keith, your knowledge of the area has helped us find our way quickly and your knowledge of the 'boys stuff' (bombs and things) was greatly appreciated by Brewis.
The welcome pack was great, in fact everything was great. We will definitely be back next year.
Our best wishes.
PS loved the cats and chucks

Brewis & Maggie, Doncaster,

Le Tournesol:

Simply Brilliant, we have stopped in many places all over France and this is one of, nope, the best so far, guess where we will be stopping next time. Praise indeed.

Oh, we stayed for a meal at La Clef des Chants. Highly recommend, the guy speaks good English and plays the guitar. 15 minutes drive max.
Enjoy

Gary and Claudia - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire,

La Petite Paquerette

Thank you so much, we have had a really good holiday. Keith has been really helpful, especially with sharing his WW1 and WW2 knowledge. The gite was a pleasure to stay in and we have had great fun with the chickens, etc!
Our recommendations for food include La Belle Epoque in Hesdin (busy and friendly), Manhattan in Hesdin and Le Chaudron d'Auxi in Auxi le Chateau (not busy but great food).
You deserve every success and we hope to return.

Phil & Pauline, Wakefield,

La Maison Longue

We've had a very nice week! We loved the welcome pack and it was very comfortable staying here :o) Thank you!
ps. the fluffy chickens are so cute!

Koppleman - The Netherlands,

Le Tournesol

Lovely greeting from Keran and Keith as we arrived; welcome pack specially tailored for our (gluten free) needs. Wok also provided as we had enquiries about whether one was available.

Met chickens and ducks and made friends...

Two weeks and just scratched the surface of things to visit!!!

Jenny and Bernard - Kent UK,

La Maison Longue

We've had a very happy week here - weather has been kind and the gite is very comfortable - one of the best equipped we've stayed in.
Thank you to Keith and Keran for their help and local knowledge. Hope to come back!
Thank you again.
ps. The 'welcome pack' was brilliant, very comprehensive and much enjoyed.

Karine & Geoff - Dorset,

La Maison Longue

Thank you for letting us share Le Petite Hameau with you and for lending us your bicycles. The walk through the ravine was magical, made even better by seeing a Hen Harrier and we had two rides on the disused railway, not seeing a single soul in either direction. Please thank the hens for their delicious eggs! The motorbike appreciated being under cover too - thank you again.

Maurice and Jean - UK,

La Petite Paquerette

The is a beautiful place to stay. Keith and Keran - thank you for being so welcoming and helpful.
Chickens - I'll miss you!!!
Best wishes Keith and Keran for the continuing success of your gite business, and your ongoing French adventure!

Sarah Read, Stafford,

A truly lovely relaxing place, everything we could wish for is here. Great hosts, lots of local knowledge. Brilliant to have a welcome pack on arrival!

Lawson, Leanne and Gabriel,

Le Tournesol

We had a great time. The welcome pack was tops and the housebook very handy. The country view was wonderful and our day trips most enjoyable and informative. This is a beautiful part of the world. Our visit to the traditional French bar at Fortel was a real cack (Australian slang for laugh/experience). We will remember it forever.

Trisha and Dick Wallace - Sydney, Australia,

La Maison Longue

Very comfortable accommodation - nice welcome, we loved the butter, wine, etc! We were surprised at how big the place was - it's called La Maison Longue for a reason!
We enjoyed a long but leisurely bike ride around all of the local villages - great if you want to explore the area, with mostly flat roads and not much traffic at all....
Every evening was made even better by sitting out in the garden, with a hot drink, looking up at the moon/watching the cats play/the chickens wander around. We were offered a swim in the pool, and were given a light to help us see when playing board games after dark. We were also allowed a small fire in a fire pit we brought - recommend toasting marshmallows if you have one too! Plenty of games in the barn for young children, and it's great that they provide some bikes.
Thanks for a great stay.

The Dornings - UK,

La Petite Paquerette

After a disasterous week in a gite prior to coming to Le Petit Hameau, we were just glad to not have a flooded kitchen! However, our stay has surpassed our expectations! The wonderful welcome pack, Keith's excellent local knowledge, the superb 'bread lady', the gorgeous scenery, the animals and beautiful gite has made a wonderful week.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the local area, with particular reference to 'La France profonde', and Chez Jacky, the many Great War sites including the Somme museum in Albert and an excellent meal at La Dent de Loup in Doullens in which the locals bought us champagne.

Our only gripe is that we have to leave! We can certainly see why many others choose to return, and we hope to do so ourselves.

Neil and Dorenda, Yorkshire,

La Maison Longue

Thank you for a wonderful stay and a lovely welcome pack. It was so peaceful and quiet. We all had a relaxing time and Ellie loved the pool. Great weather and the location is perfect!
Thank you again.

Andrea, Mark and Ellie-Mae,

La Petite Paquerette

I can truly say that staying at Le Petit Hameau and in La Petite Paquerette in particular was a very pleasant experience. We were lucky enough to be the first to stay in this lovely gite after its recent refurbishment. Keith and Keran, you did a great job! Very cosy, very comfortable and very functional.

Boffles is a great vantage point for all sorts of outings. We especially liked Amiens and the great beach at Berck.

Keith & Keran, thanks for your hospitality and prompt help when the DVD recorder failed to work. Thanks also for the delicious welcome pack. Goodbye and perhaps 'au revoir'.

Paul and Joyce - Netherlands,

La Maison Longue

Thank you so much. We have enjoyed our holiday so much made up to the fact that the gite is so lovely - one of the very best we have stayed in. The children enjoyed the pool and loved helping with the chickens. We look forward to returning one day soon.

Rogers family - North Wales,

Another absolutely FANTASTIC stay with you. We seemed to do something every single day. For those of you who follow who read these notes, I would suggest visiting St Valery sur Somme (it's the place where William the Conqueror set sail against England); or Le Petit train de la haute Somme (a narrow gauge working railway); and, if you are here for the 'warry' stuff, then the Thiepval memorial is a must. And at the end of a long exploring day, back here to relax and sit in the late evening sun, with a beer, in an idylic setting. We watched the fledgling sparrows setting off on their first journey, away from the rest!
All in all, enjoy!

Richard and Brenda,

Le Tournesol

We have spent a most pleasant 2 weeks here enjoying your hospitality and the gorgeous countryside. In the midst of it all we attended the 100th anniversary commemoration of the Anzac battle of Fromelles.

Your welcome package was most appreciated especially the detailed identification of interesting places to visit in the surrounding districts, and we enjoyed our conversations with you.

We have really enjoyed our time in this peaceful place in this beautiful region. We felt welcomed from before we arrived with all the helpful information that you provided. We enjoyed your hospitality but also felt its warmth and genuineness. We have seen many war cemeteries, beautiful countryside, a glorious chateau garden, the coastal beaches, the battlefields of Crecy and Agincourt and poppies blooming amongst the wheat. We attended a moving ceremony to commemorate the many Australian deaths at Pozieres, amongst whom was my great-uncle. We placed flowers and momentos on William's grave. He would be amazed and gratified that the hell he died in his been transformed into a place of peace, tranquility, fertility and beauty.

A very warm thank you.

Amanda & George - Oakville, Canada,

Le Tournesol

What a brilliant place to stay. Really good for getting away from it all. A pleasant gite in a quiet rural village, we loved it. Keith and Keran made our stay really enjoyable. The welcome pack is so good we didn't need to go out for a meal on the first evening as originally planned. The chickens are entertaining, and the locals very friendly, welcoming and helpful, putting up with my attempts at French. Roads virtually to ourselves when compared to the UK. Google translate is a useful help. Our first holiday in France, and our first visit for over 20 years. Plans to return are already ongoing.

John & Irene Plant,

Le Tournesol

Keran and Keith, thank you so much for enabling us to complete our mission, to commemorate our relatives at Thiepval, Mirville and Loos - job done.  Hens, cats, countryside, location, accommodation, hospitality.  All the best for the future.  See you again, we will be back.  Thank you.

Cynthia and Brian, Bishop Auckland, Durham,

The flowers and welcome pack were much appreciated. The eggs were delicious! We visited Foucquevillers which has links with Derby and attended the event to mark the centenary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme, where wreaths were laid at the cemetery.
Many thanks to our hosts here.
ps we enjoyed our conversations!

Ruth and Les, Derby,

Lovely relaxing stay, excellent welcome pack. Didn't get to try the log burner due to the lovely weather. Easy access to battlefields etc and good supermarkets within a reasonable distance. Thanks for recommending Parc du Marquenterre - lovely day out for nature/wildlife lovers. Thank you for the warm welcome Keith and Keran, I would recommend staying here to anyone.

Kathy & Steve - Leeds,

Le Tournesol:

I loved my stay at Le Petit Hameau! Le Tournesol was very rustic and I loved the original beams running through the building - the history on the site was amazing (be sure to ask the owners!).

It was so very relaxing and I slept better than I have in years - very peaceful and serene. I'm not looking forward to going back to my busy life in London, but looking forward to coming back here for another stay.

Thank you so much!

Le Tournesol:

We were looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat for a few days, away form our busy activity filled retirement and that is exactly what we found at Le Petit Hameau!

Le Tournesol had everything we needed and it was particularly pleasant sitting out the back in the sunshine although the chickens were a little too nosey!!

The gite was generally comfortable and having wi-fi was an additional bonus. The bed resembled the surrounding landscape with its rolling hills and valleys and the noisy, creaking staircase added 'je ne sais quo' in the dead of the night!

Thank you to Keith and Keran for the excellent welcome pack which was much appreciated...and the fresh flowers on the table!

First stay at the Gite, but not the last. We have rally enjoyed our stay - accommodation was immaculate. Lots of places to visit locally plus the odd trip to the coast.

3 nights spent at Le Petit Hameau - a short break for us in order to visit some war graves of distant relatives. We had a relaxing, pleasant stay here. The barn was a hit with our sons (13 and 11), and the log fire was comforting of an evening with a glass of wine. We have travelled extensively, particularly in France and have experienced many gites. This didn't disappoint. It was good value for money and the welcome pack was definitely the best we have received. Merci Beaucoup :-)

We have had a very enjoyable week and La Maison Longue has been the perfect place for our family. The children (3 and 4 years) loved playing in the barn in the morning and collecting extra wood for the fire.

Thank you for the lovely base you have provided here - we have had a fabulous time and can't wait to return to France in the very near future.

We have been looking forward to our trip to France for months - we are both city dwellers and wanted a week to relax, cook and explore. This gite was perfect! The kitchen is well supplied to make cooking easy. Sitting outside with the chickens (even in October!) was a big favourite. This gite is cosy, simple and affordable. The location is simply breath-taking in terms of beauty. We would love to visit again.

ps...Thank you to Keith for the local historical tip-bits of info - we found it all so interesting!

La Maison Longue:

We have had an enjoyable week staying at La Maison Longue and have enjoyed experience the local area. It is true that a car is certainly needed (!) due to our location here, but that is part of the appeal of staying here.

We found La Maison Longue to be very comfortable - we all slept well, felt relaxed there and enjoyed a log fire of an evening. Lots provided to keep us all entertained. Flies could be a bit of a nuisance, but to be expected we supposed. The welcome pack was very welcome on arrival and the barn was a hit!

Thank you for hosting us.

We have enjoyed our little holiday in Boffles Le Petit Hameau. Our cottage was comfortable and contained all the necessaries. We all slept soundly. Our 6 year old son, Micah enjoyed the swing in the barn, swimming in the pool and especially bike riding - as he learnt to ride on 2 wheels in your village streets. We would happily visit again. We also enjoyed exploring the area with day trips.

We have enjoyed a very relaxing time at La Maison Longue - a wonderful week away. Having never holidayed in France before, we weren't sure what to expect. But we found the country side absolutely beautiful. The gite was very comfortable, it truly felt like a home away from home. Our girls (aged 2 and 4) loved the barn, the swings, the garden toys and of course, the hens. I particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surrounding fields. The location is ideal and, to reiterate previous entries, provided the perfect base from which to explore the region.

We can't wait for the next visit, when we can explore more of the Somme region and maybe event take a train to Paris for a day.

The Wagners,

We would like to thank Keith and Karen for a lovely weeks holiday. Thank you for the welcome pack and everything you have in the gite for us, including the information booklet, we found this very helpful and we used it every day to help us plan our days out. We also appreciated the basket of leaflets. After a full day out, it was nice to come back to the gite and chill out. It was also nice to have the TV and Wif-Fi.

We have really enjoyed our week in France and would do it again. So once again thank you very much.

Thank you so much for a wonderful week at Le Petit Hameau!

Le Tournesol had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday - we made use of the DVD on the one rainy day and sampled the local produce (red wine and cheese!), but it was also perfectly placed for day trips.

The welcome pack on arrival was a lovely start to the week especially arriving after midnight.

We would love to stay and relax for another week...especially as the sun seems to have come out!

Third time at La Maison Longue and still love it! We have been far and wide this trip, looking up my Grandfather's 'war grave' near Ypres. This was a very moving experience and good to finally pay my respects.

We will be back as we find this an excellent base and the facilities are excellent, well equipped and very friendly.

Thank you

We have had a lovely time here in La Maison Longue. For the first couple of days it was fun keeping the unseasonable cold at bay by lighting the wood-burning stove. The setting is beautiful and we have greatly enjoyed the quiet. We love the chickens and their plaintive little noises The rooms are very comfortable and the gite is very well equipped. We've done lots of travelling in the surrounding area and have had an excellent holiday.

ps....we found Audrey's long lost Uncle Fred in a war cemetery near Roeux!

This is our fifth time at the Petit Hameau, although our first time in this particular gite. We love the local area and find the gite a good base for going slightly further afield. This is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay - a real 'get away from it all' place. Refreshingly simple and rustic. Great to have Wi-Fi if wanting to keep up with 'the rest of the world'. The welcome pack, as always, a very appreciated added extra, but even that exceeded expectations from pervious visits!

We would like to say that the gite has always been rural and is in the middle of nowhere, which is why we enjoy coming here! No frills, just down to earth and actually quite cosy. The bed is very comfortable which is very important. It was very nice to have Keith here during our stay.

We will obviously return some time in the future.

Thank you for a lovely stay, we really appreciated the welcome basket and the local produce - the eggs and bread were fantastic! The gite was very clean and tidy, cooking facilities were great and as we were here over Easter - when things close early - it was nice to cook in and we felt very cosy. The location was great and we found it easy to explore the surrounding areas. The recommendations in the book were good on the whole, but could probably be updated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Le Petit Hameau and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in rural France.
